All you need Short Course Eventing was developed as an intro to the sport of eventing, to be done at the schooling level making the experience beginner and amateur friendly, as well as a less expensive option to showing a full Horse Trials. As a full Horse Trials can be extremely financially and resource difficult to host, the Boss Mare Short Course Series has filled a niche that many competitors and spectators will enjoy year after year!
More about Short Course Eventing; the event consists of a dressage test scored as per a regular Horse Trials. The Riders then do a shortened Stadium Jumping test, which carries onto the Cross Country Test, usually consisting of 8-12 fences, and the course is completed back in the Stadium jumping ring over additional Stadium fences. Penalties are calculated as per a regular Horse Trials, with optimum times given and scored. The full rules can be found under our rules page.
The Boss Mare Short Course Series is designed and geared towards schooling level riders, to encourage proper horsemanship and learning in a safe and structured environment, all while encouraging participants to have fun!
All you need is an OEF or equal Liability membership to compete. Shows are located in the Quinte and Northumberland region.
Levels Offered:
Trot A Trail -Poles on the ground. Walk trot dressage test. Riders can be led. No cantering.
Grasshopper - 18 inches and under. Very inviting fences, great for green horses and riders. Walk trot dressage test .
Starter - 2’0 ft max height. A variety of inviting cross country fences. Walk, trot, canter dressage test.
Pre-Entry - 2’6 max height. A variety of inviting cross country fences, a good introduction to eventing. Walk, trot, canter dressage test.
